Building our Chicken Coop: Artists at Work, Part 1
We have decided to collectively raise chickens at GRACe, both for fresh eggs, and to add another way to enjoy our community of artists & creative folks. Plans have been made for a dozen feathered "ladies", and step one was to build them a new home. Fortunately, one of the artists had some building experience, and many of us were able to come together, scrounge some building materials & start work. More to come!

Small Business Saturday Artisan's Market
Small Business Saturday is a great way to support your locally owned small businesses as you shop for the perfect gifts for your loved ones. Skip the big box stores & help out your community by buying local. We have made it easy to "Shop Small" by bringing dozens of local artists, craftspeople and small, independent businesses to one place offering everything from fine art, jewelry, wearable arts, home décor, and skin care products, to artisan foods and handmade holiday decorations.
The Drawn Curtain
The Drawn Curtain is an exhibition of work by artist Emily Dean and will be her first solo show in Denver. The show will include works done in a variety of media, ranging from charcoal drawings to textiles. The exhibition represents Dean’s unveiling to the Denver community and will feature works inspired by anatomy, texture, the human figure and, most prominently, fabric and drapery.
An opening reception for The Drawn Curtain will be held on Friday, February 10th from 6pm - 9pm at Globeville Riverfront Art Center.
Dean is a visual artist based out of Denver, Colorado. In 2010, Emily earned a degree in arts management from Messiah College, which is situated in south central Pennsylvania, minutes from the small town where she was raised on her family’s farm. Emily has been creating her whole life, and in late 2016, was fortunate enough to pursue creation as a career."

DINK Colorado Showcase 2, TALA Take Art Leave Art, and Draw Off!
All Colorado based artists who submitted for the 2017 DINK expo are invited to participate in this DINK Colorado Artists Showcase/ Take Art, Leave Art/ Draw Off gallery event, Second Saturday Nov. 11th, 2017, at GRACe, 888 E 50th Ave, Denver.
The DINK Colorado Showcase challenge is to create a piece of art that is not based on any copyright or trademark protected character, other than your own, in order to participate. If you already have original art created that is of your own brainchild, then you are good to go.
We want to challenge artists to create original works that isn’t based on something DC, Marvel, or what someone else created. We want to see what you, yourself have created, here in Colorado.
In addition, we are putting together a second show for the same night, same venue, “TAKE ART, LEAVE ART” or “TALA”. We invite you to participate. We need art—a multitude and of many kinds. Give us your good but “not good enough.” Give us your studies, your mistakes, and your pet projects. We want what you cannot throw away but won't sell. If you are a non-traditional artist of handmade art in other forms such as jewelry, fine crafts, and skilled knitting or embroidery, feel free to bring your art for exchange as well.
TALA is a huge party centered around art and exchange. All levels are encouraged to participate in our eclectic scheme to bring art to the masses. We will paper the walls with as many submissions as we can. We will also welcome artists to create such works at the show and can exchange them for the displayed works during “TALA”. The only rules: replace the piece you take with something of your own and limit yourself to two trades per person. In the atmosphere of frenzy, excitement, and energy that TALA takes on, we ask that everyone please remain civil, and help us make this a fun event for all ages to create a small piece that can be exchanged for another small piece. This will start ushering in the early holiday spirit of giving. Everyone is invited to participate!
At the event, we’ll be holding our Draw Off. More details will be made available leading up to the event.

As we move beyond challenges in life, we often focus on quieting the lingering ghosts as quickly as possible. What if we stopped struggling and paused to honor our suffering, using reflection as a currency for transformation? In Angela Craven’s exhibition at GRACe Gallery, she uses joss paper, or ghost money in her newest work as a metaphor for revering our so-called ghosts.
